Max Wardell, DPT, CSCS, CAFS

Max is the Director of the Overhead Athletic Institute and a Doctor of Physical Therapy. After pitching collegiately for the Concordia University Ann Arbor varsity baseball team for two seasons he transferred to Oakland University where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration on Exercise Science. Shortly after Max’s collegiate baseball career ended he began a three year apprenticeship under Ed Martel, the founder of the Overhead Athletic Institute, orthopedic physical therapist, and former professional pitcher. Max is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Max also has a certification in Applied Functional Science (CAFS) through the Gray Institute. Max is the instructor for the Overhead Athletic Institute educational programs and Martel Method continuing education courses. Max is a throwing athlete rehabilitation consultant and PT for HealthQuest Physical Therapy and has co-authored the book Rehab to Throw Like a Pro: The Clinician’s Guide.
